Good morning on this beautiful Saturday, the 19th of September. As you know from my previous blogs, I like to begin each morning by reviewing news items from various sources to see if any may relate to the prophetic Scriptures. Some examples from this week's news which could turn out to have prophetic significance are:
1. The United States has decided not to proceed with development of a missile shield system in Poland and Czechoslovakia. Russia is elated at this development because they had seen the shield as a threat to their national and military sovereignity.
2. Sources reported that Iran is now nearly capable of producing nukes and in a speech on Friday, Iran's leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, after repeating that the Holocaust did not exist and was merely a pretext for establishing the state of Israel, vowed "Israel will not last long. Do not tie your fate to it ... It has no future." He has warned other Muslim nations against ties to Israel and promised to destroy Israel soon.
3. Israel's Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, speaking in Jerusalem this week said, "Israel will not accept limits on its sovereignity," He has previously repeated that Israel will never allow Iran to produce nuclear weapons because of their threat to Israel's very existence, especially after the repetitious threats of Iran's leader.
Keeping a watchful eye on each of these developments is important considering the teaching of Ezekiel 38 & 39.
