It is Sunday afternoon and I am publishing my blog one day late because in spite of frequent attempts yesterday, I was unable to get through to my blog page until today. Ah Technical difficulties, the byproduct of this wonderful computerized world we live in. I continue to make measured progress in my recovery every week. Although the progress is taking longer than I had expected, I've been told this is often the course it takes. It would be easy to look on the negative side of things, but that would be a mistake. I am grateful that I am neither going backwards nor standing still; slow progress is still progress and every week I show more strength and stamina. Thank the Lord for His provision and marvelous grace. My focus must stay upon how far I've come, not upon how far I have yet to go. God bless you for your concern and prayers - they are treasured blessings.
In Christ,
Mel Brown

Dear Pastor Brown ; It has been awhile since we commented on your blogs, but many things have been going on here. I was sick with the flu & wasn't in church much, as I didn't want to be responsible for ANYONE catching the flu from me & giving it to YOU. Your resistnace is not very good. Then Duane would get into town late & I spent time with him , catching up on our week apart & what each of us faced on a daily basis. We have missed a lot of church this winter, because of sickness , cold & snow & ice & I didn't want to take a chance on falling down. This winter sure has been one to remember ! What with all the ice & snow & c-c-c-c-cold.
I agree with you on the fact that it is good to focus on how far we have come,not how far we have to go. How far we have come , just shows how God has been there for us & lead us & directed our every path. Yesterday , Sat. Duane was on his way home from Ark. & as he got closer to Iowa City , the snow came down faster & faster & then the ice began to fall. The MINUTE he pulled into the Terminal Parking lot , the Co. shut him down & told him he could NOT go home. Our hearts automatically dropped to the floor! But the longer we talked , we realized thet Lord is the one who was watching out for Duane. Duane heard by the C.B. Radio , that there were Semi's all over I-80 that either Jack-Knifed , or went into the median. IF he had proceeded on here , he MIGHT have ended up in that same predicament. So Duane & I are PRAISING The Lord that he got shut down , because at least he was SAFE! He wasn't able to come home until Sun Morn , but at least he was IN ONE PIECE! I for one, am Thankful for THAT. EVERYDAY , I pray a hedge of safety around every inch of Duane's truck AND Duane & ask The Lord to give him traveling mercies AND He ALWAYS DOES.
HE IS STILL IN CONTROL with His hands on the wheel!
Just wanted you to know that we are STILL PRAYING for YOU & we do EVERY DAY AND Your whole Family. we pray for the rest of the staff at Edgewood as well as others in our church.
We just didn't want you to think we had forgotten you , "We could NOT do THAT." It is our priviledge to pray for YOU & OTHERS.
Love In Christ;
