Good morning on this Saturday, October 15th. Tomorrow is Mission's Emphasis Sunday. Each year we set aside a Sunday to emphasize the commandment of Christ in the Great Commission to take the gospel throughout the whole world. Missions is the strong right arm of the Edgewood Baptist Church. Edgewood supports nearly 100 missionaries both at home and abroad, has helped start new churches throughout the United States, built feeding centers and orphanages in many many countries, helped provide over 1,000,000 meals to hungry people world-wide, supported native pastors who have reached the unreached for Christ, built church buildings in numerous places and helped in various other types of missions projects throughout the years. Additionally, we will take on our 15th missionary intern when the Derek Glynn's arrive in town in early November. Many millions of dollars have been channeled throughout the years by our church in obedience to these words of instruction by our Lord found in the Great Commission and the Great Commandment. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:19-20). "And you shall love the LORD you God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: you shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these" (Mark 12:30-31). We are proud of our record in putting these commandments into action at Edgewood and look forward to greater things for Christ in the future. Thank you for caring with us about the things that Christ cares about most.
